Use Base's integration for Slack to push messages from Base to Slack, and vice versa, to make organizing information easier, simpler, and more intuitive.

The new and improved Base integration for Slack will ensure that you or your team can work seamlessly between Base and Slack, without having to install two integrations. It now supports interactive decision streams in Slack.

Slack and Base

Slack is a messaging app that connects people to the information they need, bringing people together to work as one unified team.

From Slack, push messages into Base to quickly capture inputs as they flow in. Review the messages in Base Inbox without losing context, then convert them into project tasks, follow up questions, contact details, or custom notes, for as many executives as you support.

From Base, push messages into Slack to quickly share information or questions with executives and eliminate back and forth. Schedule send messages with executive briefs, decision streams, itineraries, and more, so your messages arrive at the best time.

Requirements for installation

You must have a Base account.

The Base integration for Slack is available to all Slack plans.

Set up the integration for Slack

  1. In Base, navigate to the Workspace Settings for your desired workspace.

  2. Click Integrations and scroll to Slack.

  3. Authenticate your desired Slack workspace. Upon completion, Base displays your connected Slack workspace details.

  4. Select a channel or user to whom messages are delivered by default. This can be left blank. The default recipient can also be changed when preparing to send a message.

Have multiple workspaces in Base? You must authenticate your Slack workspace for each workspace in Base.

  • If you have more than one Slack workspace, you may connect different Slack workspaces to different workspaces in Base.

Sharing a workspace with other users? Each user needs to authenticate their own Slack workspace in the workspace in Base. You'll only see your authorized Slack workspace listed in the workspace settings.

How to push messages from Slack to Base Inbox

  1. In your desired Slack message, click the bookmark icon for "Add to saved items".

  2. In Base, navigate to Inbox, where you can view and organize the message item.

How to push messages from Base to Slack

You can push a message to Slack containing a Base digest.

  1. In Base, navigate to Digest Builder, and load your desired digest.

  2. Click Preview & Send.

  3. In the modal, click the Slack tab. Select a recipient, and add an optional message.

  4. Check the box for Share on my behalf. This is a required step for messages to appear in Slack from you.

  5. Select Send Now or Schedule For Later.

  6. Depending on your selected send option, click Send It or Schedule It. Base delivers the message to your recipient in Slack.

You can also push a message to Slack containing a Base decision stream.

  1. In Base, navigate to Decision Stream.

  2. Select your desired questions, then click Share.

  3. In the modal, click the Slack tab. Select a recipient, and add an optional message. Name the group of questions if desired.

  4. Check the box for Share on my behalf. This is a required step for messages to appear in Slack from you.

  5. Select Send Now or Schedule For Later.

  6. Depending on your selected send option, click Send It or Schedule It. Base delivers the message to your recipient in Slack.

Revoke the integration for Slack

Revoke the integration from Base

  1. In Base, navigate to the Workspace Settings for your desired workspace.

  2. Click Integrations and scroll to Slack.

  3. Click Revoke.

Repeat steps in each workspace for which you wish to revoke the Base integration for Slack.

Revoke the integration from Slack

Your administrator can remove the Base app from your Slack workspace. Once they do so, the integration for Slack in Base (app.basehq.com) is also revoked.
