The new and improved Analyze tool in Base combines rich calendar analytics with AI insights for next-level reporting. Use Analyze's data to evaluate your leader’s time, make strategic recommendations, and highlight your value-add. It now supports the ability to view time breakdowns by event category, and to customize the information you want to display for what matters most.

In this article:

Getting started with the new Analyze

To get started with the new Analyze:

  1. Navigate to Analyze.

  2. In the top left under "Calendar Report," click the toggle switch labeled "Try the new Analyze".

For now, you can switch between the existing Analyze and the new experience by using this toggle at any time.

Customize report settings

Analyze presents data for a specific calendar based on your selections for date range, time zone, calendar event colors, and visible widgets.

Select a date range and time zone

By default, the report selects the last 30 days in your local time zone.

  1. Click the Report settings button in the top right.

  2. Choose a predefined date range from the Date range dropdown, or select "Custom" to choose a custom range.

  3. Choose a time zone from the Time zone dropdown.

  4. Continue editing other settings, or click outside the settings panel to return to viewing the report. The date range appears next to the Period label under the report title.

Current limitations

  • For a custom range, you can select a maximum of 365 days.

Select a calendar

  1. Click the Report settings button in the top right.

  2. Click the Calendars section to reveal available calendars organized by connected accounts.

    1. First time selecting a calendar in Analyze? Click Select a calendar under "Calendar Report" to quickly reveal this section.

  3. Choose a calendar from the list, or search for a calendar using the text field.

    1. After you've made a calendar selection, the reports defaults to that selection to load Analyze.

  4. Choose a time zone from the Time zone dropdown.

  5. Continue editing other settings, or click outside the settings panel to return to viewing the report.

Current limitations

  • Only 1 calendar can be selected at a time.

  • Calendar selection is applied globally, meaning the same calendar selection is applied regardless of workspace.

Select and label event colors

After you've made a calendar selection, Analyze loads the colors you've applied to your existing calendar events in this section.

Label event colors. Assign a label to the colors based on the event category that they represent.

  1. Click the Report settings button in the top right.

  2. Click the Events section to reveal the available event colors for your selected calendar.

    1. Note: If you don't have edit access to a selected calendar, Analyze only displays the calendar color.

  3. Enter labels by clicking into any text field.

    1. The calendar color has a default label, "Default for [calendar account]".

    2. Selected event colors that have empty labels appear in the report as "Uncategorized".

  4. Continue editing other settings, or click outside the settings panel to return to viewing the report.

Include or exclude event colors. Check or uncheck the box next to an event color to include or exclude its data from appearing in the report.

Current limitations

  • Once you've edited event color labels, Analyze saves your changes to the browser. If you use Analyze on a different browser or in incognito mode, any previously edited event color labels are not saved.

Show or hide widgets

A widget is a mini-report that displays your data in different styles, allowing you to access calendar information without having to create that information yourself. The new Analyze allows you to show or hide widgets associated with different calendar insights.

To give you a head start, Base populates widgets into the Analyze report by default.

  1. Click the Report settings button in the top right.

  2. Click the Widgets section to reveal the available widgets.

  3. Check or uncheck the box next to any widget to set its visibility.

  4. Continue editing other settings, or click outside the settings panel to return to viewing the report.

Current limitations

  • Widget position is not customizable.
