This feature is currently available for all users in our public beta.

The new and improved Home page in Base ensures that you or your team can use it as a dashboard for viewing and managing key information. It now supports the ability to customize the information you want to display and to see data across all workspaces, no matter which workspace you are in.

In this article:

Getting started with the BETA dashboard

The BETA dashboard in Base allows you to add or modify widgets associated with Base tools and productivity needs.

To get started with the BETA dashboard:

  1. Navigate to Home.

  2. In the top left above today's date, click the toggle switch labeled "Try the beta dashboard".

During our public beta, you can switch between the current Home view and the BETA dashboard by using this toggle at any time.

Add and edit widgets

A widget is a mini-report that displays your data in different styles, allowing you to access certain information from Base tools without having to navigate to the tool itself. A widget can also be a mini-space that serves various productivity needs, like note-taking.

To give you a head start, Base populates widgets into the BETA dashboard by default. You can add or edit which widgets you'd like to display, and where they sit in the dashboard.

How to add widgets

  1. Click the Edit widgets button in the top right.

  2. In the dashboard, click any button for + Add widget to bring up the Widgets menu. Note: A widget is added to the dashboard in the location where you select + Add widget.

  3. Select any widget from the menu.

  4. Continue adding widgets, or click Save and close to return to viewing the dashboard.

How to delete widgets

  1. Click the Edit widgets button in the top right.

  2. In the dashboard, click the red minus icon in the upper left corner of the widget you want to delete.

  3. Continue editing widgets, or click Save and close to return to viewing the dashboard.

How to edit widget titles

  1. Click the Edit widgets button in the top right.

  2. In the dashboard, click the widget title and type your desired text into the input field.

  3. Continue editing widgets, or click Save and close to return to viewing the dashboard.

Customize widget data

By popular demand, the BETA dashboard allows you to view aggregate data for all of your workspaces, no matter which workspace you are currently in. To customize the data that is shown:

  1. Click the All workspaces button in the upper right.

  2. Search for any workspace, or select a workspace from the list, then click Save. The dashboard widgets will update to reflect the data from the workspace(s) you select.

Using the available widgets in public beta

During our public beta, there are 4 widgets available to use in the BETA dashboard:

Propose Time

View your most time-sensitive proposals yet to be finalized with upcoming time slots. You can delete a proposal directly from the dashboard, or quickly navigate to the proposal for further editing.

Decision Stream

Track recently shared questions to take action on responses or follow up on unanswered ones. Scroll the widget categories for Answered, Skipped, and Shared. You can copy a response, create a task from the question, archive the question, or quickly navigate to the question for further editing.

Tasks

See a compact view of tasks and subtasks with upcoming or past due deadlines. You can complete a task or subtask, delete them, or quickly navigate to the task for further editing.

Notes

Jot down reminders, paste links, or capture thoughts for easy access throughout the day. You can add new notes, copy the text, or delete notes.

Notes are also integrated with Base tools! By clicking Create in the triple dot menu for each note, you can create a new task, decision stream question, dossier contact, or dossier note. You can also create an existing task, dossier contact, or dossier note.

Limitations

  1. The public beta has 4 widgets available for use. Have a widget idea? Send us a chat!

  2. There is no drag and drop for widgets.

  3. It's not possible to view time proposals that do not contain any upcoming time slots.

  4. It's not possible to manage permissions, roles, and rights.
